Germany, officially known as Federal Republic of Germany. It is a country located in Central Europe. It is known for its rich history, strong economy and diverse culture. Germany is bordered by nine countries, making it a Central Hub in Europe. Berlin is the captain and largest city of Germany. It’s a vibrant cultural and political centre. German is the official language. English is widely spoken, especially in urban areas. It is a federal parliamentary republic with strong emphasis on democracy. Germany’s blend of tradition and modernity, along with its economic strength, cultural contributions and historical significance, make it a notable and influential nation in Europe and the other world.
GERMAN HISTORY
ANCIENT Germanic tribes :
The region that is now Germany was inhabited by various Germanic tribes. The romans had interactions with these tribes and overtime, some territories became part of the Roman Empire.
World war :
The 19th century witnessed the movement of German Unification. Otto Von Bismarck successfully unified the various German states into a German Empire with Wilhelm I as its first emperor. After World War II, Germany was divided into East and West German the Berlin Wall separating the two.
The Cold War played out in Germany but the wall fell in 1989, leading to German reunification in 1990. Germany has become a prominent European power. Germany’s history is marked by a rich cultural and intellectual heritage.
CULTURE OF GERMANY
ARTS AND LITERATURE:
Germany has a strong tradition in literature, philosophy and the arts. Think of famous figures like Goethe, Schille and Beethoven. Germany is owned for its classical composers including Bach, Beethoven and Wagner. It’s also a hub for contemporary music with a significant electronic music scene.
Festivals and cuisine:
Germany is famous for its festivals such as Oktoberfest in Munich and the Cologne Carnival. They are numerous cultural events including the Berlin International Film Festival and the Document art Exhibition. German is known as hearty dishes like sausages, sauerkraut, schnitzel and pretzels. Beer and wine also plays a significant role in German culture.
REASON FOR CHOSEN THIS COUNTRY :
Germany is often credited with introducing the tradition of the Christmas Tree. The concept of decorating an evergreen tree during the holiday season can be traced back to the 16th century in the region that is now Germany. It’s believed that Martin Luther, the protestant reformer was among the first to add lighted candles to a tree, creating the precursor to the modern Christmas Tree. This charming tradition has since spread worldwide.
