ABOUT SINGAPORE :
Singapore, is an island country and city-state in maritime Southeast Asia. It is located about one degree of latitude (137 kilometres or 85 miles) north of the equator, off the southern tip of the Malay Peninsula, bordering the Strait of Malacca to the west, the Singapore Strait to the south, the South China Sea to the east, and the Straits of Johor to the north.
The country's territory comprises one main island, 63 satellite islands and islets, and one outlying islet; the combined area of these has increased by approximately 25% since the country's independence as a result of extensive land reclamation projects. It has the second highest population density of any country in the world, although there are numerous green and recreational spaces as a result of urban planning.
With a multicultural population and in recognition of the cultural identities of the major ethnic groups within the nation,
Singapore has four official languages: English, Malay, Mandarin, and Tamil. English is the lingua franca, with its exclusive use in numerous public services housing, and politics. Multi-racialism is enshrined in the constitution and continues to shape national policies in education.
CULTURE :
Made up of Chinese, Malay, Indian and various other ethnicities, cultural heritage is what makes Singapore, Singapore — a congregation of different cultures coexisting in one congenial space.
Cultural heritage is an important part of a Singaporean’s identity. It is how one expresses their thoughts, beliefs and way of life. Like the way Theemithi, an approximately three-month long Hindu festival is celebrated. At the end of Theemithi, the ceremonial priest joins volunteers in a 2½-mile (4-kilometer) walk from Sri Mariamman Temple to Sri Srinivasa Perumal Temple, and then back. They carry sacred items like the karagam, a silver pot filled with water, adorned with mango leaves and flowers — a manifestation of the goddess Draupadi, the heroine from the tales of Mahabharata.
*DEEPAVALI IN SINGAPORE
During the festival of lights, huge statues of elephants and peacocks are displayed across Little India. As one of the major cultural festivals in Singapore, Diwali is celebrated to mark the trimph of good and evil.
Thousands of Hindu families in the city decorate their abodes and workplaces with beacons of light, exchange gifts, share feasts and perform pooja(prayers) to Goddness Lakshmi and Lord Ganesha.

Some well-known Singaporean hawker or kopitiam dishes includes kaya toast, chilli crab, fish head curry, laksa, roti prata and Hainanese chicken rice, which is widely considered to be one of Singapore's national dishes.

Vanda Miss Joaquim (Papilionanthe Miss Joaquim) was selected as Singapore's National Flower. It was selected from among 40 flowers, out of which 30 were orchids.

Lee Kuan Yew GCMG CH SPMJ DK (born Harry Lee Kuan Yew; 16 September 1923 – 23 March 2015), who served as the founding Prime Minister of Singapore between 1959 and 1990, and Secretary-General of the People's Action Party between 1954 and 1992. He was the Member of Parliament (MP) for Tanjong Pagar from 1955 until his death in 2015. Lee is widely recognised as the founding father of the modern Singaporean state, and for his leadership in turning the island into a highly developed city state.
Ross Fleming Butler(born May 17, 1990)is a Singaporean-born American actor. He is best known for his role as Zach Dempsey in the Netflix series 13 Reasons Why and as Brett Willis on K.C. Undercover .He was also cast as Reggie Mantle in the Netflix/The CW show Riverdale.
Veronica Shanti Pereira (born 20 September 1996)is a Singaporean track and field athlete who specializes in the 100 m, 200 m, 4 x 100 m, and 4 x400 m.
She holds the 100 m national record (11.20s), 200 m national record (22.57s),200 m SEA Games record (22.69s),and the 200 m Asian Athletics Championships games record (22.70s).She was ranked 1st in Asia in 2023 for both the 100 m and 200 m based on World Athletics records.
FAMOUS PLACES :
MERLIN PARK
Merlinpark Castle was built for Tairrdelbach Ua Conchobair in the early 12th century. It was owned by the Lynch (Ó Loingsigh) in the 16th century. Still in good condition, it was lived in until the mid-19th century.
GARDENS BY THE BAY
Gardens by the Bay comprises three public gardens in Marina Bay occupying a total land area of 1,010,000 sq m (101 ha). Built on reclaimed land, the three gardens - Bay South, Bay East and Bay Central - started out as projects of the National Parks Board (NParks)
SINGAPORE FLYER
The Singapore Flyer is an observation wheel at the Downtown Core district of Singapore. Officially opened on 15 April 2008, it has 28 air-conditioned capsules, each able to accommodate 28 passengers, and incorporates a three-story terminal building.
